Why St George's

A Foundation of Faith and Christian Values

St George's is an established Church of England Academy that has provided high-quality education for the church-going families of Blackpool for twenty years. The school operates as a family where pupils and staff work together in the knowledge and love of God, acting out their faith daily with Christ as their example. This strong Christian and Anglican context is underpinned by the academy's official vision, inspired by Romans 12:10: "'Be devoted to one another in love. Honour one another above yourselves'". By actively promoting Christian values such as dignity, hope, community, wisdom, humility, and kindness, the academy encourages all its members to be aspirational.

We aim to positively impact upon each other and society so that we contribute to a world where, inspired by St Paul, we can ‘be devoted to one another in love. Honour one another above yourselves’.

Holistic Pupil Development and Care

The academy is deeply committed to nurturing the spiritual, moral, social, cultural, intellectual, and physical development of every pupil. Staff work diligently to ensure that every child is known, supported, and challenged within a caring environment. Visitors to the academy frequently comment on this distinctive sense of community, which helps prepare students for the opportunities, responsibilities, and experiences they will face in adult life. Ultimately, the academy aims to empower its pupils to positively impact each other and the wider society.

Unlocking Passions Through Exceptional Opportunities

With over 40 clubs and societies, and an inclusive ethos that celebrates participation and achievement at every level, our outstanding extra curricular programme unlocks passions whether it is through performing arts and music, competing in football or netball, caring for the environment in Animal Care, or exploring forensic science in one of our thriving STEM electives, the breadth of opportunity at St George’s shapes our pupils’ lives. We encourage pupils to try new experiences and pursue their passions freely, ensuring they develop key life skills and grow in confidence alongside their academic studies.

A Deep, Supportive Community

In an era of increasing pressures and distractions, our exceptional pastoral system ensures pupils have the time and space to grow in independence, pursue their interests, and develop a profound sense of community. Our approach sets us apart: St George's operates as a close-knit family where pupils and staff work together in the knowledge and love of God.

Rooted in our Christian vision  we equip our pupils with the character and resilience to navigate the modern world. Our dedicated pastoral and chaplaincy teams provide a nurturing environment where lifelong friendships are made, ensuring that every pupil feels supported and empowered to find their own solutions and develop themselves.

Our Distinctive Culture: 'The SG Way'

A culture built on courtesy, compassion, respect, and trust. St George’s culture is rooted in our core Christian values of Dignity, Hope, Community, Wisdom, Humility, and Kindness. We develop in our pupils an instinctive understanding of the difference between right and wrong, guiding them to be aspirational and to positively impact society.

At St George's, our equivalent to 'Manners Makyth Man' is 'The SG Way' - it is in our DNA. Our school is built on genuine mutual respect. Pupils are encouraged to throw themselves wholeheartedly into an environment where communal life relies on kindness and consideration: from the simple, powerful actions of saying "good morning" to staff and holding doors open, to proudly wearing their star badges.

Camaraderie in the pursuit of wisdom creates a distinctive and unique sense of community where excellent behaviour and excellent learning become second nature.
