Pastoral Care

At St George's, we take our responsibility for each pupil’s wellbeing with the utmost seriousness. From the moment they join the school, pupils are supported by a dedicated network of staff committed to nurturing their emotional, physical, and spiritual development so they can achieve 'life in all its fullness.'

Because they are non-teaching staff, our pupil support workers are exclusively focused on wellbeing. They meet with the pupils every day and are always available during break, lunch, and after school. For parents, this dedicated team serves as the primary and most accessible point of contact for any pastoral updates or concerns regarding their child.

Morning Tutors and The Chaplaincy Team

Pastoral care is woven seamlessly into our daily rhythms. Every morning begins with our form tutors and year-group morning meetings, providing immediate daily support and guidance to help pupils make the most of their opportunities.

Our Chaplaincy team is also an integral part of this pastoral network. The School Chapel is staffed every single lunchtime by a member of our pastoral team, ensuring there is always a safe, quiet space available for any pupil seeking conversation, stillness, or a moment to use the Prayer Wall.

Specialist Mental Health Support

We recognise that modern life can be complex, and some pupils may require more specialised emotional support. We are extremely proud to be one of the very few schools in the country to have a dedicated psychotherapist on staff. Working closely alongside our pupil support workers and the Chaplaincy team, our psychotherapist is available to provide expert, tailored interventions for mental wellbeing through our internal school referral system.

Through this collaborative, wrap-around care, St George's ensures that every pupil feels individually known, valued, and fully supported throughout their educational journey.
