About PE
The P.E. department aims to provide all pupils with the skills to enjoy a wide range of sports. Pupils at Key Stage 3 have two 1 hour lessons a week and at Key Stage 4 a 1 hour core lesson. These lessons are taught in the school's outstanding sports facilities. We also offer pupils the opportunity to study GCSE P.E. and Btec Sport & Leisure.
We have a strong commitment to high standards in a range of school sports teams, including Athletics, Badminton, Cricket, Cross-Country, Football, Hockey, Netball, Rugby League and Rounders. We regularly achieve success at local and regional level.
The P.E. department also provides all pupils, regardless of ability, the opportunity to take part in a vast range of activities that develops their physical, mental, spiritual and emotional well-being and promoting success and enjoyment.
We are a member of the School Sport Partnership, working together with our SSCO's/CSC's and our Family and Feeder primary schools to raise the standards of P.E. provision in those schools. As part of this programme we run a variety of high-quality sports festivals for local primary schools throughout the year. This also helps Year 6 pupils to become familiar with our department and school.
